Representation
Thank you for your interest in being represented by Circuit, we are always seeking to take on new talent and hope that the following information will help you decide that working with a co-operative is the best choice for you as a professional actor.
There are many benefits in being represented by a co-operative, not least that each member gets an invaluable insiders view of the industry they work in. Many actors choose this route because they feel more in control of their own career and the path it is taking.
As a co-operative client, you are the agent! Working in the office on a rota basis, each member has the responsibility of selling the others. Duties cover handling incoming calls and mail, making job applications for each actor as appropriate, and handling negotiations of contracts and fees for members in work. You will experience all aspects of office management, which will be beneficial knowledge for your own career. Each new member is thoroughly trained in every aspect of this work, and is soon able to operate as a professional agent. Depending on the number of members in work, each client can expect to have 3-5 days at the office per quarter. In addition to this we have a monthly meeting at the offices in Shelton.
We ask that all applicants have established themselves as professional actors, either by training or experience. We like to see prospective clients in performance so if you have an upcoming show, or a showreel, please let us know, as the more informed we are, the better we can see how best to represent you.
Also, due to the nature of the agency, it is best for any new applicant to consider the distance they would be travelling to the office and make sure this is convenient and realistic for them.
While it is not essential for representation, we strongly advise that you are a member of Spotlight. 99% of the work we receive has been cast through their web link so the benefits really make up for the cost.
We also advise that you join Equity, the actors union.
